Nearly 2 Million Travel for Pchum Ben Holiday

PHNOM PENH: According to a report from the Ministry of Tourism released on October 17, more than 1.92 million domestic and international tourists visited destinations across the country during the Pchum Ben holiday from October 13-15.

Five provinces of 24 hosted the most visitors with Tbong Khmum welcoming over 400,000 tourists, Battambang with over 200,000, Kampong Chhnang with more than 160,000, Sihanoukville with 150,000 and Siem Reap with 120,000.

The report noted an increase in tourist activity this year as compared to last, when 1.89 million domestic tourists travelled for the holiday. This year also saw about 270,000 international tourists enjoying the Kingdom.

This year, the provinces are increasing Water Festival activities to attract more visitors like in Tbong Khmum and Battambang, who are holding festivities later this month.

Kampong Chhnang also organizes Buddhist tourism activities that encourage the participation of foreign tourists.
